I purchased a 7 week old pup out of CNAFC-AFC-CNFC-CAFC Moonstone Hug and Moochie (HaM) from Bill and Sarita McKnight, Moonstone Labradors LLC, Big Fork, Montana in April 2010. My new pup, Pre, is a full brother (repeat breeding) to their Qualified All-Age/Derby Dog, Moonstones Ham-Maid Marian (Livvy). Pre's sire has FC, FTCH, ATCH, MH, and CD titles. I had my choice of the two EIC Clear male pups. I chose the smaller male as I felt he was bolder. Pre's purchase price was $3,000.
Pre was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy less than a month after I purchased him. According to the literature, HOD produces a very painful inflammation of the growth plates associated with a high fever. Treatment is basically supportive until the growth plates close. The goal of treatment is to minimize the chance of the development of bony deformities, such as bowing of the long bones, especially of the forelimbs; and of joint contractures. Pre was diagnosed with Craniomandibular Osteopathy on September 16, 2010. CMO is a developmental disease which can cause excessive, abnormal bone growth on the cranium (skull) and mandible (lower jaw). In severe cases there is an actual inability to open the mouth. Pre's x-rays have been submitted to VIN (Veterinary Information Network).

“You had first pick of the HaM pups, and YOU chose your puppy, Pre. Your puppy was in perfect health when he left MOONSTONE.” |
“This is not a guarantee issue; this is an Act of God issue, not unlike a puppy being struck by lightning, hit by a car, washed away in a flash flood...very sad but out of our control.” |
